The story, the tours
Angels and Demons is credited with being one of the greatest success novels in the world of literature and film of the 21st century. It has not always been this success story when the book was first published in 2000 and few copies have been sold but in the slipstream of Dan Brown´s The Da Vinci Code even the novel on Angels and Demons in Rome began it’s global domination. Angels and Demons, Dan Brown´s novel about a complott in the Vatican, proved to be the perfect script for a breath taking city tour including all the major highlights of the Eternal city which we realized with our Angels and Demons Tours.
Angels and Demons – The book
Publishers Weekly called the story "Pitting scientific terrorists against the cardinals of Vatican City". Angels & Demons is a well-plotted thriller crammed with Vatican intrigue and high-tech drama. Robert Langdon, a Harvard specialist on religious symbolism, is called in to investigate after the Illuminati, a group of Renaissance scientists, including Galileo, who met secretly in Rome to discuss new ideas in safety from papal threat.
Angels and Demons – The movie
In 2008 director Ron Howard started filming first scenes for the Angels and Demons movie in Rome. The movie – starring Tom Hanks as professor Robert Langdon - hit theatres in 2009 and immediately became a worldwide success story. Many tourists want to see Vatican City, the Pantheon, Angel’s Castel and the most beautiful churches in Rome with Dan Brown’s wonderful sense for intrigue and mystery and get historic facts mixed with the breathtaking story of Angels and Demons on one of our tours.
The Illuminati
The return of the Illuminati coincides with the possession of the terrible explosive antimatter and the abduction of four cardinals in the hope to hit the Vatican. Packing the novel with sinister figures, Dan Brown sets an explosive pace as Langdon and his partner Vittoria race through Rome to try to save the cardinals and find the antimatter before it explodes.
But: Is there any historic proof that the Illuminati actually existed in Rome?
